Zion National Park

No reviews yetWrite a review

The Pa'rus Trail is the one trail open to dogs: flat, paved and along the Virgin River. Campgrounds and the Zion Lodge grounds welcome leashed dogs too.

Where dogs can go

  • Along public roads and in parking areas.
  • Developed campgrounds and picnic areas.
  • The grounds of the Zion Lodge.
  • The Pa'rus Trail, the only trail open to pets.
  • Leash no longer than 6 feet, at all times.

Off limits for dogs

  • All trails except the Pa'rus Trail.
  • Wilderness areas.
  • Shuttle buses.
  • Public buildings.

Camping with your dog: Pets are welcome in developed campgrounds. They may be left alone there only when conditions are safe and the pet is not barking or whining.

Good to know, from the park

  • Keep dogs out of the Virgin River. Toxic cyanobacteria can be present at any time of year.
  • Zion is hot. A car can quickly get dangerously warm, and leaving a pet in risky conditions is not allowed.
  • Retractable leashes that extend past 6 feet are not allowed.
  • Breaking pet rules can lead to a citation with a minimum fine of $100.
