Dogs are welcome on all surface trails, with pet-friendly cottages and a day kennel for while you tour the cave. Dogs can't go in the caves.

Where dogs can go

  • All surface trails in the park, on a leash.
  • Pet-friendly lodging in the Woodland Cottages.
  • A self-service day kennel at The Lodge at Mammoth Cave during daylight hours, while you tour the cave.
  • Leash no longer than 6 feet, at all times.

Off limits for dogs

  • Caves and park buildings.

Good to know, from the park

  • Ticks are in the park. Ask your vet about tick protection before your trip.
  • Summer heat can affect your pet. Bring enough water and snacks for a hike.
  • You may meet horse riders on backcountry trails. Move to the side and keep your dog calm while they pass.
  • Do not leave pets alone outside or inside your vehicle.
