Only two trails allow dogs here: the Gatlinburg Trail and the Oconaluftee River Trail. Dogs are also welcome in frontcountry campgrounds and picnic areas.

  • Leash no longer than 6 feet, at all times.

Camping with your dog: Pets are welcome in frontcountry campgrounds.

Good to know, from the park

  • This is bear country. Never let your dog bark at, chase, or corner a bear.
  • If your dog confronts a bear, do not try to step in.
  • Consider carrying bear spray and know how to use it.
  • Never leave pets alone in vehicles or RVs.
