Dogs can go almost everywhere, including most trails. A few spots are closed to them, and some beaches close to dogs in summer.

Where dogs can go

  • Almost everywhere in the park.
  • Most of the park's trails.
  • Keep your dog on a leash at all times.

Off limits for dogs

  • Raymondskill Falls Recreation Site (PA).
  • George W. Childs Park (PA).
  • Dingmans Falls Visitor Center and Recreation Site, including the boardwalk trail (PA).
  • Smithfield Beach and Milford Beach between Memorial Day and Labor Day, except to launch boats or reach the McDade trailhead (PA).
  • Valley View Group Campsites (PA).
  • Turtle Beach between Memorial Day and Labor Day (NJ).
  • Rivers Bend Group Campsites (NJ).

Good to know, from the park

  • Ticks are common, mostly late spring to early fall. Check yourself and your pet after a visit.
  • Test pavement with the back of your hand. If you cannot hold it there for five seconds, it is too hot to walk your pet.
  • Hunting is allowed in the park. Know the season dates and get your pet proper safety gear.
  • On the river, a well-fitting life jacket for your pet is highly recommended.
