Dogs can walk the trail from the visitor center to Fruita Campground, part of the Fremont River Trail and the open orchards. Other hiking trails are off limits.
Where dogs can go
- The trail from the visitor center to Fruita Campground.
- The Fremont River Trail from the campground to the south end of Hattie's Field.
- Orchards that are not fenced or locked.
- Chesnut and Doc Inglesby picnic areas.
- Campgrounds.
- Within 50 feet of the center line of roads open to public vehicles, paved or dirt.
- Parking areas open to public vehicles.
- Leash no longer than 6 feet, at all times.
Off limits for dogs
- All other hiking trails.
- Public buildings and the backcountry.
Camping with your dog: Pets are allowed in campgrounds but may not be left alone there.
Good to know, from the park
- The desert can be deadly for pets. Cars heat up fast in the sun, even on cool days.
- It can be dangerous or deadly to leave a pet in a car above 68 degrees, even with windows cracked.
- There are no kennels in the park. Plan carefully before bringing your pet.
